Many individuals wonder why I am so obsessed with coffee, and think it’s odd that I drink as much as I do. I will have a cup of coffee at least three times a day you see, but I am also quite obsessive in how I go about doing it. That of course lead to individuals being somewhat absent minded lots of the time and getting into plenty of fights – in short it wasn’t conducive to the development of society en-mass.
Enter hot drinks like coffee and tea, however, and suddenly not everyone is spending their whole time in the bar fighting, but instead we are in coffee shops discussing politics and philosophy. Caffeine is not only better for you than alcohol, it’s a nootropic that may make you smarter – no wonder society started progressing!
And this ‘coffee culture’ that is in charge of our clean water and printing press still continues today and in fact is having something of a renaissance of its own. Thanks to the internet and portable computing, more and more people are taking to the coffee shops once again to work and chat and this is where all the hip young start-ups are starting. When you get good at coffee there’s loads to learn too, and the rabbit hole goes as deep as you want it to. Happy to stay with filter coffee? Fine, but otherwise there is cappuccino, latte, chi latte… the options are endless.
